Title: Economics of Simple Living
Format: Presentation
Decription:
In spite of rampant consumption and waste generation in industrialized
countries, with its consequences of global climate change, acid rain,
species extinction, and resource depletion, the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) seems to go on undaunted, while other countries, like China
and India, are striving to "catch up." How is it possible that we just keep
on growing? We will take a closer look at how the GDP accounts for the
environmental consequences of affluence and convenience.
