The Green Fire team is composed of former U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service leaders, planners, and specialists with extensive experience managing fish and wildlife programs, policies, and lands. Our collective expertise includes developing and implementing conservation policy and tools, collaborating with partners to manage migratory birds, developing National Wildlife Refuge System management plans and compatibility determinations, developing and implementing strategic communications plans and external engagement and congressional strategies.
Scott Kahan is a conservation leader with 36 years of experience in public-service natural resource management, including a distinguished career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. An avid hunter and angler, Scott brings a deeply personal connection to conservation, grounded in the belief that well-managed lands and waters sustain both wildlife and the outdoor traditions that connect generations.
Kyla Hastie is a conservation leader with more than two decades of experience advancing wildlife conservation, partnerships, and communications. She spent much of her career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where she served in senior leadership roles including Deputy Regional Director and Acting Regional Director.
Jeff Fleming has served as a policy advocate, storyteller, and strategic communications advisor during a 24-year career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade on Capitol Hill supporting key communications and policy objectives. Jeff has a passion for helping people advance organizational priorities by creating space to take smart risks and transform vision into meaningful action.
Krishna Gifford is professionally certified in the essentials of grant writing and has more than 25 years of conservation experience at the local, regional, and national levels of public service. Her areas of expertise include project management, team collaboration, and meeting facilitation; scientific and policy analysis and conservation tool development; and technical writing and editing.
Terri Edwards works in partnership with conservation professionals to deliver communication services that achieve business results. She is an experienced writer and strategist specializing in giving voice to leaders’ intent, engaging employees, and mission-driven storytelling. Terri lives in western Massachusetts.
David Eisenhauer is a strategic communications leader, writer, and editor with more than 25 years experience in conservation, climate, and public policy spaces. A storyteller known for translating complex science into compelling narratives that inspire action and deepen public engagement, David's North Star is "when nature thrives, people thrive."
Laurie Racine is a seasoned leader with a distinguished track record in budget administration, financial analysis, and business operations. She has overseen budgets for multiple programs and offices, coordinated workforce planning, introduced advanced reporting systems, and secured funding for major projects.
Christine Eustis has more than 30 years of federal government experience leading strategic communications efforts and congressional relations programs for several agencies, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey. She lives in Reston, VA where she enjoys bird watching, reading, and walking her dog.
Keith M. Weaver Ph.D., CWB, has served as a research assistant, forestry technician, wildlife biologist, wildlife refuge manager, leadership coach, and college instructor during a 44-year wildlife management career. His interests include public land management, conservation partnerships, human dimensions of natural resource management, and leadership development.
Kim McClurg served her 37-year U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service career assisting wildlife and public land managers to support conservation projects on the ground. A national and regional leader, she brings extensive expertise in federal budget formulation and execution, infrastructure project management, administration and reporting of Congressionally appropriated and other funds, workforce trend analysis, and strategic communications about federal budgets.
